This is an in-person, hands-on, 6 week course for quilting beginners! We will cover all quilting basics in detail. At the end of the class, you will have a completed lap or throw quilt! Quilt top pattern is pictured to the left.


This course will teach you:

-How to use your specific sewing machine for quilting

-All about thread, needles, and other sewing notions

-How to read a quilt pattern

-How to cut fabric correctly and sew an accurate 1/4" seam

-How to piece your quilt top, baste a quilt sandwich, quilt, and bind

... and sew much more!


This 6 week course meets on Tuesdays *In person* at the Case Community Center in Sand Springs! It runs from October 4th - November 8th from 5:45-7:45 PM. Supply list will be provided by the participant.

For Class 1:

Sewing Machine

2 Spools Cotton Thread (40 or 50 wt)

1/4" Foot (or any foot allowing you to sew a 1/4" seam)

Small Scissors


For Class 2-6:

Walking Foot

Free Motion Quilting Foot (optional)

Seam Ripper

Sewing Pins

Fabric Marking Pen

Quilting Cotton (see pictured fabric requirements to the left)

Cotton or Polyester Batting (see batting requirements to the left)

.... I will bring everything else you will need!

For homework at home, you may need:

Cutting Mat

Quilting Rulers

Rotary Cutter

You may be wondering - What is a Fat Quarter??

A fat quarter is a piece of fabric that is 18" x 21"! You can find these at quilt shops and big box sewing stores. Don't worry! We will talk about fabric during the first class, so you won't need to bring them with you immediately.
